May long fishing trip 5 friends embark on a journey on what they thought was going to be the ultimate getaway for a couple laughs, drinks, lots of fish and warm weather. as the day approached we soon found out that this was not going to be an ordinary trip. the weather forecast called for below average temperatures and rain. lots and lots of rain. As the boys do what we do and not think twice we push forward and gather our rain gear. with treacherous cold waters and freezing temperatures we finish our 15 km boat ride to camp for the weekend only to find out 2 (out of 5) of our crew members gear is soaked. after some laughs and tarp forts we began to get dry and appreciate where we are. after the Friday night the fishing began on Saturday morning at 8am and boy did we catch them. our first day we snagged over 30 walleye with one coming in over 27 inches!

Next day we headed out at 7am. Okay, maybe more like 8:30am after some coffee and hangover pukes. But other than that...The day was gloomy, wet and freezing but that didn't stop us from pushing on to Moose bay for that monster pike. After a slow morning with less then a couple fish in the boat. Our captain (my brother) staged a terribly funny motivational speech to get the boat in a better mood. What do you know? Damn near 20 minutes after this motivational speech we smash a 41-inch pike into the boat with smiles on all three of our faces from ear to ear. After carefully and quickly removing the hook, measuring and snapping a picture in the process. We leave the day with a clean release on a boat record fish.

The final day was not short of any of the rest but instead of fishing for the one lunker back in moose bay we headed back to the trusted Hart Lakes for a fun day of rain, unlimited walleye and the infamous Crean chanel that (luckily) my boat mates had hip waiters to guide us through this years shallow waters. We finished the day earlier than the rest to head back to our own little tent city on our private beach we booked for the weekend for the final night. Trying to stay warm around the fire we share stories back and fourth like little kids at a sleepover saying what ever was on our mind and laughing hysterically while we did it. That are just some of the many reasons i will for ever cherish this trip for the rest of my life.
